About VIP

Why VIP?

Within the United States and international community is a growing awareness that human trafficking is an evil that must be defeated. Concerned individuals often want to do more than just give money to worthy organizations that are combating human trafficking. They want to make an impact themselves. And so, we’ve launched the Victims Impact Project.

What VIP?

The Victims Impact Project is open-source activism. Anyone wishing to contribute time and talent can participate in this virtual community as we develop tools, resources, programs and services that directly impact victims of trafficking and abuse and their caregivers.

How VIP?

Through collaboration by members of the VIP community, we will develop multimedia tools and resources in the native languages of victims. Products may include DVDs, web-based videos, podcasts, digital print resources, websites, blogs, and more.

All products created by the Victims Impact Project will be peer-reviewed and must meet the primary criterion of being of direct benefit to victims and/or their caregivers.

All products created by the Victims Impact Project will be released to victims and/or their caregivers in their native language free of charge. Tax-deductible donations to offset the expenses to the Victims Impact Project are welcome. The Victims Impact Project is sponsored by Million Kids, a 501(c)3 public benefit nonprofit (www.millionkids.org).

VIP Project Announcement:
Grief Recovery Curriculum

As its initial project, the Victims Impact Project has chosen to develop a faith-based grief recovery program. Victims have suffered trauma and loss. Clinicians and caregivers agree that a structured approach to grief can be extremely beneficial to promoting the emotional and spiritual healing of victims. Furthermore, many agree that faith plays an important role in inspiring hope in victims. For this reason, this project will have a faith-based emphasis.

The goal is to create an effective low-literacy resource accessible to victims in their native languages. This project would be deliverable via web-hosted videos, DVDs, podcasts, and digital print resources made available through the Victims Impact Project website.

Initially, we will create these resources in Khmer (Cambodian), Spanish, Vietnamese, Thai and English.

Survivors' Stories

Storytelling is at the heart of healing and recovery. Every survivor has a story. And every story is worth hearing.

Furthermore, survivors often find encouragement, hope and inspiration from hearing the stories of other survivors. Your voice helps others find theirs.

For this reason, we are inviting survivors to submit their stories to the Victims Impact Project for possible posting on our website and/or blog.

Here are the submissions guidelines:
• Stories must be about your own life, not someone else.
• Stories must be true.
• Stories must be 1,500 words or less.
A good format for telling your story includes four elements: 1) What your life was like before the abuse, if there was a time in your life without abuse; 2) How you were abused and its affects on you—emotionally, physically and spiritually; 3) How you found freedom and the path that you followed to recovery; and 4) What your life is like now.

All submissions become the property of the Victims Impact Project. By submitting your story to us, you are granting us permission to publish your story electronically and in print. All stories will be attributed by first name only or a pseudonym or anonymously.

You may submit your story for consideration to vip.now@pacbell.net.
